If you love travel and want to make money doing it, you may be considering becoming a travel agent. Travel agents can be very profitable, but only if you have the right skills and experience. You can become a travel agent by gaining a bachelor’s degree, having experience in other service occupations, and developing a niche in the travel industry.

Travel Agents help individuals and groups with their travel arrangements. They research and make hotel reservations, arrange transportation, and provide meal reservations. As a travel agent, you will earn a high salary for providing quality customer service.

Many employers prefer to hire a certified travel agent. Certification increases the job’s marketability and allows you to enhance your skills. To be certified, you must pass one or more exams. The cost to get certified varies from $450 to hundreds of dollars.

A bachelor’s degree is the most common type of degree needed to become a travel agent. While there are other degrees that you can obtain, a bachelor’s in business or tourism can help you compete for a more lucrative position.

There are many awe inspiring things to splurge on these days, but a budget on a budget is no akin to a scrooge on a budget. The following tips and tricks will help keep your hard earned cash in your pocket. Besides having a solid budget, be sure to have a backup plan in case of emergency. It also helps to have a backup bud or two, in case your partner or spouse is the travel type.
